Richard (Rick) Jameson MST, MGFE, EA was a mentor and friend not only to me, Lori B. Gailey, but to all his employees, clients and business associates. Rick passed away peacefully on May 30, 2022, at his home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
In the early 80’s Rick was introduced to income taxes and IRS representation, which he loved and started his final career of tax preparation. He purchased his first H & R Block franchise in Cedar City, Utah. He worked hard to build a successful business and added another location in St. George, Utah and later a satellite branch in Hurricane, Utah. Rick enjoyed decades of doing taxes, helping clients, mentoring employees, and growing the business. After selling the franchises, Rick started a private practice with business partner, Lori B. Gailey. In 2015 they built another successful business doing what Rick loved: taxes.
Rick was an IRS Enrolled Agent and had a Master of Science in Taxation from William Howard Taft University. With thirty-six years of tax preparation knowledge, he could evaluate complex tax questions and their impact on the client's special tax situation. He was very good at thinking outside the box.
Rick had also earned the title of Master Graduate of federal Examination that was awarded by the National Tax Practice Institute (the education foundation of the National Association of Enrolled Agents). This is an advanced training course designed to teach IRS Enrolled Agents examination techniques to better represent their clients before the IRS. There have only been eight (MGFE) awarded to Enrolled Agents in the entire country.
Rick had over thirty years’ experience in client representation before the IRS examination division. This gave him the unique qualifications to understand the IRS requirements and instructions as needed for examination assistance and defense of the taxpayer within the IRS guidelines as stated in the Internal Revenue Service Audit Techniques Guide.
Rick also had a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology with a double major inBusiness Administration from Southern Utah University and a Master of Science Degree in Social Science, Interdisciplinary Public Administration, with a double major in Economics from Utah State University.
Rick has helped many of his firm's clients with business, estate and tax planning analysis and guidance with the intention that they would achieve success in both their personal lives and business enterprises.
He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.
